Since DC power supply systems use a run rail for current return, leakage current is generated between the rail and the ground, thereby raising the rail potential. Increases in rail potential can cause human safety accidents, and leakage currents cause corrosion in metals near rails. Therefore, it is important to predict the magnitude of the leakage current and the rail potential in DC power supply systems. There are various analytical methods to predict the leakage current and the rail potential, but it is difficult to increase the dimension of the equation or to interpret it according to the location of the vehicle. In this paper, we propose an analytical method using multi-port modeling for the components of a DC electrified railway (DC substation, catenary line, train, rail to ground resistance) that can complement the existing analytical method and show a simple analysis example that predicts leakage current and rail potential using this method. |
